Lori Knapp

Hi, my name is Mrs. Lori Knapp and I teach Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades at Zion Lutheran School. I am beginning my 40th year of teaching and feel very blessed to be a Lutheran educator. I am a firm believer of the value of Lutheran Education, having received my degrees from Lutheran Universities - my B.A. at Concordia Irvine and my Masters of Education in Curriculum & Instruction at Concordia Portland. Being an Early Childhood Educator (Preschool – 3rd Grade), I value the importance of play in children’s education. Children learn best through play which is why I have numerous manipulative and S.T.E.M. activities throughout the day integrating all subjects. I love seeing children’s “a-hah” moments when a concept unveils in their mind. My classroom is filled with characters from children’s books i.e. the Pigeon, Gerald & Piggie, and Paddington just to name a few. I read many books every day to the children and they hold the character while I read. I am excited to implement our new Language Arts curriculum this year.

My husband Chuck and I love to travel. We have 3 children who at one time in their lives worked here at Zion Lutheran Preschool! My daughter Angie also attended this wonderful school. We have an adorable dog, Chuy, that all the children love.
